E Block Pinot Noir
Wine
Toolangi Reserve E Block Pinot Noir represents the very best of Toolangi Pinot Noir. It is grown in fine clay loams adjoining the Toolangi State Forest in the Yarra Valley.
Fruit is handpicked from E Block's low cropped MV6 clone Pinot Noir vines. Around half is destemmed to open top fermenters and the remainder is added as whole bunches.
After a short cold soak, natural fermentation takes place. Malolactic fermentation also occurs naturally. After 25 days on skins, the wine is pressed to new and seasoned French oak, where it matures for 8-12 months.
The wine is racked off lees just prior to bottling. It is neither fined nor filtered.
Pale red, Toolangi Reserve E Block Pinot Noir's plush red fruits and tight grained oak extend to a finish of taut, racy acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
